As a new member of the Networking Entrepreneurial Women of Marin, I was so honored present an in-person talk on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Left Bank Brasserie in Larkspur, CA on the topic of Creativity & Entrepreneurship: Bringing Whole Self Expression Into Your Business.
I began with the question: What does creativity mean to you and your business?
We all have preconceived ideas and stories that we tell ourselves which allow us to live our lives. Some result in wonderful outcomes. . .some not so much. In business, sometimes we might have to go along with what benefits others, even when we may not agree with or believe in it. By taking the time to inquire into what our own experience is, it can have the effect of empowering, validating, and connecting us with all the parts of ourselves that want and need expression.

For those of you on the way to becoming a boss babe, solopreneur, philosopreneur or other creative title for your role as a business owner, I have created a PDF exercise to help you get clear on what you would like to have happen each day of your business life—which I can tell you is pretty much every day!
One of my mentors and the founder of The Academy for Soul-based Coaching, Annemiek van Helsdingen, told us in my Invoke Your Client’s Magic training that we should do a minimum of 3 tasks each day relating to our business.
These activities, or actions, could be anything to do with your business. Get as creative and elaborate as you want, but it’s not necessary. It can be simply meditating on what you would like to have happen for your business today.
Or, you could send a direct message on social media to a potential ideal client, investor or simply network with someone in your field. Or, how about working on your website, social media promotion, flyer or graphic? Or, journaling about what you envision for the future sustainability of your business? The possibilities are so numerous it can be fun to see what happens each day.
I love Annemiek’s advice because it begins to instill the kind of daily commitment to your work that will be necessary for growing your business.
Routine is difficult for me, so be gentle with yourself about the “daily” aspect of it. However, in my experience, the times I do practice every day, it generates more structure, productivity, self-awareness, consistency, output and momentum!

Elise Darma’s StoryVault is a comprehensive, resource-packed vault of prompts to use as a starting off point for social media stories and posts!
Don’t let her claims to being lazy fool you! Elise has literally hundreds of ideas that are offered to you in various formats: spreadsheet, Trello boards, Asana. You can copy & paste her prompts for reaching clients or collaborating with other solopreneurs in your field. And, Elise has already organized the voluminous stories into four functional categories: visibility, engagement, leads and sales.
Use them as a fill-in-the-blank and post or take the idea and make it your own. It’s totally up to you, but the best part is that the majority of the work is already done for you.
Therefore, you can spend more of your time on the actual services you offer and connecting with your clients, rather than coming up with that perfect content to attract people to your social media.
Many people offer vaults similar to this, but I chose Elise’s because of the simplicity of her system, the thoroughness and sheer number of options that are available for connecting to the people you need to grow your business!
The Lightworker Boss
Mona Lisa Ondevilla created her offers for intuitive lightworkers who are also introverts. Most business advice is geared towards people who are extroverted, but that is a completely different skillset than those who are introverted. Personally, I’m an ambivert, but I find that my business personality is the INFJ, whereas my overall personality (before I began to do all of my soul work and therapy) is an ENTP.
Mona Lisa’s many free offerings and FaceBook community have helped me generate ideas, stay on brand and feel supported in more heart-centered and introverted business techniques that still work!
Her free offerings include two self-paced courses on how to build your heart-centered brand and how to build a heart-centered business.
Spirit Leader Design
Jasmine Ivy has created a Spirit Leader Design signature system for you to understand the energetic signature you bring to your business ventures. You can take the free quiz at her website and learn how to use your energetic signature to build the strongest business foundation you can.
I am an Energy Worker and Light Worker, so I have the Bridge Worker subtype. I’ve been redesigning my business to make it more sustainable for my energy and the things I love to do. In working with my Human Design and now my Spirit Leader Design, I’ve shifted so much in my work-life balance, and it has brought new layers of wholeness to truly be living out my design.

Set In Soul’s Business Minded Journal
This cool journal is the size of a textbook and has pages that walk you all the way from the tiny ideas you start with to creating a business plan, budget and helping you plan for the legalities of starting a business!
I found the exercises to be helpful, even if not all of them applied to Dialogical Persona Healing Arts, and I had already started the process of becoming a LLC.
One of the coolest features, in my opinion, is the daily tracking system provided for you in the last section. You can track everything from how you start your morning to how you end you business day. You track your feelings, workload, progress, challenges, celebrations and ideas that occur throughout your day. There are even pages for “Business Notes” interspersed throughout your tracking, so you can have room for more in-depth ideas and the lessons you learned from a full work week.
